Water from Ghosts is an installation that documents the interactions that people have with the Phoenix canal system using field recordings and photography.
There is quite a history associated with the canal system. It were originally developed by the ancient Hohokam people and used to irrigate land for an estimated population of 50,000. When the Hohokam disappeared in mysterious circumstances around 1450 their canal system lived on – and was further developed for use in modern times. Water from Ghosts explores this legacy.
