Deep Time Resonance installation at SonarAZ | September 2026

In September 2026, artist and curator Jimmy Peggie presented Deep Time Resonance, an immersive sound and visual art installation at SonarAZ in Tempe, Arizona. Conceived as a contemplative environment focused on geological and non-human timescales, the installation invited visitors to step away from the pace of everyday life and engage with the vast rhythms of the natural world. As curator of the exhibition, he developed the conceptual framework and assembled a multidisciplinary group of artists working across sound, video, photography, and installation. The project explored themes of time, memory, erosion, transformation, and humanity's relationship to deep planetary history. Through durational sound works, moving imagery, and atmospheric visual elements, the exhibition created a meditative space for reflection and attentive listening. 

In addition to curating the exhibition, Jimmy Peggie contributed his own artistic work to the installation. His interdisciplinary practice, which combines experimental sound, radio art, photography, and moving image, aligns closely with the exhibition's focus on impermanence, environmental change, and the passage of time.

Presented at SonarAZ on September 12 and 13, 2026, Deep Time Resonance featured works by Thomas Catlaw, Jennifer Dam, Sutton O’Neill, Cyd Peroni, Mia Salazar, Irena Velickovic, and Jimmy Peggie. Adam Petty led an hour long guided meditation on Sunday morning. The installation encouraged visitors to slow down, listen deeply, and consider their place within a vast continuum of ecological and cosmic time. 

Following the event, visitors praised the exhibition's atmosphere and curatorial vision, noting the installation's ability to bring together sound, image, and contemplation in a shared exploration of "deep time."  

CUMULUS: The Art of Meteorology - Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, Arizona | Summer 2024

Jimmy Peggie was selected as a participating artist in CUMULUS: The Art of Meteorology, an international juried exhibition presented by the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, Arizona. The exhibition explored atmospheric processes, weather phenomena, and humanity's relationship with a changing climate through the work of 60 artists from across the United States and beyond. 

Curated in collaboration with renowned Flagstaff meteorologist Lee Born and juried by Shonto Begay, Christine Cassano, and Jaewook Lee, the exhibition coincided with the Southwest monsoon season, creating a unique dialogue between art, science, and the environment. Jimmy's pieces were The Climatic Voice - a sound art installation and Sailors Take Warning a framed video image.

His multidisciplinary practice, which combines sound art, experimental media, photography, radio art, and visual abstraction, investigates atmosphere, place, memory, and environmental perception. His work's focus on sonic and visual representations of landscape and environmental conditions resonates strongly with the exhibition's theme of meteorology and weather systems.

Through subtle, immersive works that encourage slow observation and deep listening, Jimmy Peggie contributes to an expanded understanding of how weather shapes experience, memory, and our connection to the natural world. 

CUMULUS: The Art of Meteorology was exhibited at the Coconino Center for the Arts from June 29 through September 28, 2024. The exhibition featured artists whose work examined atmospheric phenomena from regional, national, and global perspectives.

Playground Arts, Mesa Arizona | May 2019

Playground Arts in Mesa, Arizona hosted a group installation featuring many Arizona artists during May 2019.  Jimmy Peggie exhibited 6 images along with a sound installation entitled 'beneath'. It continued his exploration of sound, image, atmosphere, and place drawing upon location recordings, abstract visual forms, and an interest in the subtle transformations of everyday environments. His work invited viewers to engage with themes of memory, impermanence, and perception.

Playground Arts was a contemporary art space and artist collective located in Mesa Arizona during 2019 that worked to support the work of experimental and unique artists with exhibitions, performances, workshops and related programs.
